Have you ever felt overwhelmed by life? Like you no longer have a true connection to anything – life passions, friends, family . . . yourself? You just want to get back on track again but maybe feel that it’s too late. Busy Yogini is absolutely for you. Yes, we talk about yoga, but it is so much more than that. It’s about slowing down the pace, cutting through the weeds, and thriving in the simple beauty of this thing called life.
What is Busy Yogini?
Busy Yogini may seem paradoxical – the opposite ends of the spectrum . . . I think it is more of a reality than any proper yogi would dare admit. Those who align themselves to living the yogi lifestyle, especially yoga instructors, are placed on a quick pedestal surrounded by fluffy clouds, cleansed auras, and doshas scheduled on a calendar and feeding menu for perfect balance at all times. Our sweat smells of sweet lemongrass and earthy patchouli, and we can strike a pose to defeat Madonna on any given day. Ah, if life were only that straightforward and easy, right?
Who is Busy Yogini?
I have always been an A+++++ personality – driven to do all things faster and better. Whenever I tell my friends how busy I am their response is, “You’ve always been busy.”
I never realized the impact my busy life was taking on me until two points in my life: The first was in my mid-twenties when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (we’ll explore this more later). I felt betrayed by my body. I just couldn’t do things that other twenty-somethings could. That resulted in a complete overhaul of my lifestyle and diet. It also was the introduction of integrated medicine, ayurveda, and the fringe of a yogic life. The second event came almost twenty years later. Post-divorce, I had convinced myself that I had to “catch up” on life. I hadn’t accomplished nearly as much as I felt was necessary for a now forty-something. I was working so many hours and “accomplishing” so many things that I landed myself in the hospital. The hospital stay, though thankfully brief, made me realize that I’m not invincible. It also made me get selfish about my time. I hated working what felt like 24/7 and neglecting the rest of my life.
So Why Busy Yogini?
I have met so many beautiful people over the years that feel the same way that I felt – A feeling of, “This is it??? There has to be something more to life.” They have filled their lives to the brim with tasks, always working towards that next promotion to fund their lifestyles, wearing busy like a badge of honor, and running in ten different directions at home to get the kids to all their events. No one just stops. No one takes time to breathe.
We live in a society where busy is celebrated and leisure is lazy. What has happened is that we have disconnected. We text instead of call. Work takes priority over family, because it funds our lifestyle. Our lifestyles controls us, instead of us creating lives that are harmonious with who we are.
We bemoan our lack of life balance (which is a misleading term, by the way). Busy Yogini is about finding harmony in life. If we envision a happy, productive life, then we have to be all about it – every single day.
Busy Yogini is about getting back to a simple life. It’s always been simple, we’ve just made it busy.
Agree. Simplicity is sanity.
It is, indeed, Tara. Love your energy and peacefulness, friend!
